Tourism EXPO Japan 2024: Highlighting Our Traditional Cultural Experiences in Tokyo

On Friday, September 27, 2024, we exhibited at "Tourism EXPO Japan 2024." This exhibition is held at Tokyo Big Sight from Thursday, September 26 to Sunday, September 29, 2024, organized by the Japan Tourism Promotion Association, the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), and the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Tourism EXPO Japan, held under the theme "Travel: Encountering New Values." The event brought together 1,384 companies and organizations from 80 countries and regions overseas and all 47 prefectures of Japan to offer new value. The total number of exhibitors was approximately 1,384 companies and organizations.

We participated as a sub-exhibitor at the Tokyo Tourism Foundation's booth, which was graciously lent to us by the Shinjuku Convention & Visitors Bureau. Both the TCVB (Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau) and the Shinjuku Tourism Promotion Association highly valued our traditional cultural experience tours and provided us with the booth free of charge. We are sincerely grateful for the thoughtful consideration of these public institutions in Tokyo and Shinjuku, especially as we have only just begun offering our tours in earnest since April.

Our 'Authentic' Traditional Cultural Experience Tours Earned High Praise from Many Travel Industry Professionals

We introduced our "Authentic" traditional cultural experience tours in Shinjuku, Tokyo, to many domestic and international travel companies. We had numerous business meetings throughout the morning and afternoon. To help attendees visualize the traditional cultural experiences, both I and our guide wore "Samue" (traditional work attire), which is commonly worn by monks at Zen temples and by artisans in workshops today. The Samue is particularly suited for enhancing the "immersive experience" during activities like Zen meditation or traditional crafts workshops. We offer rental Samue made by Itaden Co., Ltd. in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture.

During our meetings, many people commented on how rare it is to find "authentic" traditional cultural experiences in Japan. Within this context, the traditional cultural experiences we offer, led by true artisans, Noh performers, and geisha, garnered significant interest, particularly from domestic and international travel companies catering to affluent clients. We received many comments like, "This is exactly the kind of tour we've been looking for."

As mentioned in the blog post from September 25, titled "Enjoying the Experience Because It’s Truly Authentic," those who can discern authenticity seek out "authentic" experiences. Therefore, the "authentic" experiences we offer bring joy, emotion, and unforgettable memories. This is why all of our tours have received perfect scores from customers.

"Authentic" Experiences in Tokyo and Beyond: A Vision for Enriching Japanese Tourism

We also reunited with Mr. Shigeru Takada, Director of Tsuruga Resort in Hokkaido, which is our partner. We reaffirmed our commitment to boosting Japan's tourism industry by connecting "authentic" experiences.

Tourists primarily gather in Tokyo when they first come to Japan. Haneda Airport and Narita Airport account for about 40% of all inbound travelers in Japan. Therefore, by offering tourists an "authentic" traditional cultural experience in Tokyo right after arrival or before departure, followed by additional "authentic" experiences after moving from Tokyo to other regions, we can ensure a more fulfilling trip to Japan.

For example, Tsuruga Resort’s "TSURUGA Adventure Base SIRI" offers "authentic" adventure experiences around Lake Akan in Hokkaido. This is a natural experience that can only be had in the diverse and richly expressive terrain of the Lake Akan area, which retains traces of its primordial past. It is highly regarded globally as a first-class natural field.

By connecting "authentic" experiences and creating a Japan trip filled with only "authentic" experiences, we can guarantee an unforgettable journey for travelers. Imagine hosting a geisha banquet in Kagurazaka, Shinjuku, followed by a nature experience in the Akan area the next day. With a short flight of just 1 hour and 45 minutes from Haneda Airport to Kushiro Airport, such a combination of traditional culture and nature is possible within the same trip to Japan.

We hope to collaborate with many professionals in the travel industry to create trips to Japan that offer only "authentic" experiences. We look forward to hearing from those in the travel industry who wish to participate.
