We are excited to announce that bookings for our 2025 Tokyo Cherry Blossom Tours at non-crowded locations are now open! The peak bloom in Tokyo is expected to occur around late March. Why not enjoy Japan’s stunning cherry blossoms while avoiding the crowds?
According to Japan Meteorological Corporation, the first 2025 cherry blossom forecast was released on January 9. The expected bloom date for Tokyo is around March 24, which is in line with the average year, and the peak bloom is forecasted for March 31.
Similarly, Weather News released its first 2025 cherry blossom forecast on the same day. It predicts that Tokyo will be the first city in Japan to experience blooming, with an estimated bloom date of March 21. Cherry blossoms are expected to reach full bloom 5 to 14 days after blooming begins. For instance, at Yasukuni Shrine, the peak bloom is predicted to occur on April 4.
Cherry Blossom Viewing Spots Around Kagurazaka, Shinjuku
There are several cherry blossom spots near Kagurazaka. The "indicator tree" designated by the Meteorological Agency for bloom observation is located at Yasukuni Shrine, about a 10-minute walk from Kagurazaka-shita. When 5–6 blossoms appear on this tree, the official bloom declaration is made.
The row of cherry trees along the outer moat from Kagurazaka-shita to Ichigaya is a famous and bustling cherry blossom spot. Another iconic location is Chidorigafuchi Moat, one of Tokyo’s top cherry blossom destinations, located about a 10-minute walk from Kagurazaka-shita.
For those seeking less crowded locations, the cherry blossom-lined Kanda River from Edogawabashi to Omokagebashi is a hidden gem that is relatively unknown to foreign visitors. Koishikawa Korakuen Garden is another excellent spot where you can enjoy the blossoms without the crowds.
Tokyo's Best Hidden Cherry Blossom Spot: Tsukudo Hachiman Shrine
Perhaps Tokyo's best-hidden cherry blossom spot is on the grounds of Tsukudo Hachiman Shrine. Personally, I visit this tree every year and love its beauty. Surprisingly, I have rarely seen other visitors enjoying hanami there.
With 25 years of living in Kagurazaka, we take pride in introducing cherry blossom spots only a local would know. Join us as we explore these cherry blossom spots while sharing insights into Japanese culture and history.
