Recently, I visited the special exhibition "The Impact of Hokusai’s Great Wave: Under the Wave off Kanagawa —Tracing Its Origins and Trajectory-" at the Sumida Hokusai Museum. The exhibition was bustling with many visitors, particularly foreign tourists. The exhibition runs from Tuesday, June 18, 2024, to Sunday, August 25, 2024. The museum is open from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

This special exhibition is being held to commemorate the inclusion of "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" on the new ¥1000 note released on July 3, 2024. The exhibition traces the background of how "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" was created, its various uses over time, and its global influence and spread, where it is affectionately known as "The Great Wave."

It's not a big museum, but very interesting and inspiring. Worth visiting!
