A new travel choice: Have you ever considered traveling light in Japan?
"Want to visit Japan but concerned about heavy luggage?" "Buying winter clothes for just one trip feels wasteful."Our clothing rental for travelers service solves these concerns. And now, we’ve combined our clothing rental service and traditional cultural experience tours into a single website for your convenience!
We launched our clothing rental service for travelers in March 2023 and started offering traditional cultural experience tours in February 2024. Previously, these two services were hosted on separate e-commerce sites, but now they have been integrated. From now on, the URL for clothing rental, "ninjakotan.com," will be unified under the traditional cultural experience site URL, "ninjakotan-travel.com." As far as we know, we are the only company in the world (excluding kimono rentals) offering both clothing rental and traditional cultural experience tours.
Clothing Rental for Travelers Enhances Convenience and Contributes to Sustainable Travel
Our clothing rental service offers two options: outdoor wear and samue (traditional monk’s work attire). For outdoor wear, we exclusively feature high-quality items from the U.S. brand Patagonia. Our goal is to promote "traveling light" so visitors can explore Japan more comfortably and easily enjoy the beautiful countryside. Renting winter clothes is particularly useful for travelers from tropical countries, as it eliminates the need to buy winter attire unnecessarily.
Additionally, by reducing luggage carried on airplanes, clothing rental significantly decreases CO2 emissions. By not carrying 20kg of checked baggage, you can reduce your trip's total CO2 emissions by approximately 149kg (based on an average round trip between Tokyo and 19 major countries). This is equivalent to 186 times the annual carbon dioxide reduction achieved by planting a single tree. In this way, clothing rental makes a significant contribution to combating climate change. By choosing clothing rental, you too can travel in an eco-friendly way!
The Unique Appeal of Samue Rentals, Different from Kimono
Samue originated as work attire for Zen monks. Due to its practicality, it has also been used by craftsmen in workshops. Recently, high-end inns have started offering samue as indoor wear instead of yukata. Renting samue enhances the immersive experience of traditional cultural activities such as Zen meditation and workshops. To deeply appreciate and enjoy the simplicity of Japanese culture, we encourage you to try renting samue.
With the integration of our clothing rental service and traditional cultural experience tours, we aim to help more travelers fully enjoy their trips to Japan. We look forward to serving you.
Sincerely,
