The Deeper Meaning Behind Our One-Year Anniversary
On April 1st, 2024, EDO KAGURA Corporation officially launched its authentic traditional Japanese cultural experience tours in Tokyo, based in the historic Kagurazaka district of central Tokyo.
Thanks to the warm support of many guests and partners, we are proud to mark our one-year anniversary. We are truly grateful for your continued trust and encouragement.

Traditional Cultural Experiences in Tokyo Earn Near-Perfect Ratings—Because They’re Truly Authentic
Over the past year, our tours have received an outstanding average rating of 4.96 out of 5—equivalent to 99.2 out of 100—a clear reflection of the high level of satisfaction from our guests. Beyond the numbers, what truly touches us are the heartfelt comments we receive, such as: “This was the most memorable part of my stay in Japan.”I want to recommend this to my friends and visit again.”These words—and the smiles of our guests—are what keep our staff and cultural partners motivated every day.→ See Guest Voices
We believe the reason behind these high evaluations lies not just in what our guests experience, but who they experience it with. Our tours are not led by actors or hobbyists. They are led by the real bearers of Japanese tradition—geisha, artisans, Zen monks, and Noh performers—who continue to practice their crafts today.

While the content of each activity is undoubtedly fascinating, it’s the personal connection, the stories, and the authentic presence of these cultural practitioners that transform the experience into something truly memorable.
Think of it like enjoying a delicious meal—who you share it with can make all the difference. It’s the same with cultural experiences: what you do matters, but who you do it with has the power to elevate it to a deeper level.

Not for Show—This Is the Real Japan
At EDO KAGURA, we do not work with people who simply wear costumes for photo ops or act out roles. We collaborate with nationally certified "A Master of Traditional Craft" (Dentō Kōgeishi) and authentic geisha, including those from Kagurazaka—an area sometimes said to offer a geisha experience that rivals, or even surpasses, Kyoto.
Even when the activity appears the same on the surface, the difference between authentic and staged is profound. The quality of the experience, and the emotional connection it creates, is on a completely different level.

True Masters Who Inspire Through Their Art and Personality
● Ukiyo-e Woodblock Printmaking | Takahashi Kobo
Led by Ms. Yukiko Takahashi, the head of Takahashi Kobo and Chair of the Tokyo Traditional Woodblock Printmakers’ Association. She is one of the most respected figures in Japan’s ukiyo-e world. Her artistic eye and craftsmanship continue to impress even the concierges of top hotels and luxury travel agencies.

● Traditional Dyeing Experience | Tomita Someko-gei
Led by Mr. Atsushi Tomita, a nationally certified master craftsman and recipient of the Order of the Rising Sun. This workshop, one of the largest of its kind in Tokyo, employs four master dyers and even produced the official scarf for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. It offers a rare glimpse into the living world of traditional dyeing techniques, balanced with innovation.

● Wagashi Workshop | Baikatei’s Mr. Takeshi Inoue
As head of the long-established confectionery Baikatei in Kagurazaka, Mr. Takeshi Inoue is one of only 150 artisans in Japan recognized as a “Excellent Wagashi Artisan” and has also been honored as a Tokyo Meister. He has even represented Japan in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ “Japan Brand” program, offering wagashi lectures in the UK. He is truly one of Japan’s leading wagashi masters.

The Equation: Fascinating Content × Remarkable People = Deep Emotional Resonance
Ukiyo-e Woodblock Printing (Takahashi Kobo)
Traditional Dyeing (Tomita Someko-gei)
Wagashi Workshop (Baikatei)
Geisha Experience (Kagurazaka's authentic geisha)
Each of these experiences is enhanced—not only by the content itself—but by the passion, personality, and presence of those who guide it. It’s these interactions that turn a cultural experience into a lifelong memory.

Now, It’s Your Turn
When it comes to traditional Japanese culture, what you do is important. But who you do it with—that’s what makes it unforgettable.
At our tours, we offer more than activities—they offer moments of true connection with the people who carry Japan’s cultural soul.
We invite you to explore the richness of Japan through authentic encounters with its living traditions.
We sincerely look forward to welcoming you.
