Geisha at Luxury Ryotei
Authentic Geisha Experience in Tokyo, Not Just Kyoto
Tokyo's six geisha districts, known as the 'Tokyo Rokkagai,' include Kagurazaka, Shimbashi, Akasaka, Yoshicho, Asakusa, and Mukojima.
The Kagurazaka district, established in the late Edo period, dates back to 1788. It is renowned as the only geisha district that was spared during the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923. Along with Akasaka, Kagurazaka remains a favorite haunt for politicians and business magnates, who often visit incognito to this day.
The Art of Kagurazaka Geisha
Geisha at Luxury Ryotei
"Yukimoto" is a genuine top-class ryotei frequented by dignitaries from the political and financial worlds.
Founded in 1948, Yukimoto is located in Hyogo Yokocho, a picturesque alley that epitomizes the charm of Kagurazaka. Directly across from Yukimoto is the inn "Wakana," where many authors have written their masterpieces. The cobblestone pathway of Hyogo Yokocho, together with Yukimoto and Wakana, creates a quintessential Kagurazaka scene, often featured on the covers of numerous magazines and books.
Yukimoto offers eight rooms, including a large hall with forty tatami mats, and can accommodate groups ranging from a single guest to parties of thirty.
This tour is private, and children are welcome to participate.
Yukimoto welcomes children, and the Kagurazaka Geisha are skilled at entertaining foreign children with games and activities. Some foreign children are so touched by the experience that they send letters to the Geisha after returning home. Age is no barrier to enjoying a Geisha banquet.
This kind of family experience will become a highlight of your trip to Japan and a cherished lifelong memory.
